Uruguay Launches a Large Electric Ferry Linking Colonia and Buenos Aires
On 22 October, Uruguay highlighted the start of operations for the China Zorrilla, a fully electric ferry connecting Colonia del Sacramento and Buenos Aires, with capacity for 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles. The vessel operates without fossil fuels, supporting lower-emission regional transport; its investment cost was not disclosed. Environmental consultants and transport operators can explore emissions monitoring, sustainability reporting and clean-mobility planning, while HPC can support environmental data analysis and operational modelling.
